Natural Steps preschool child safety statement

Natural Steps Preschool is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining a child safe environment where children are respected, valued and heard.We have zero tolerance for child abuse and actively work to ensure that every child is protected from harm. Our commitment is grounded in our duty of care and in always acting in the best interests of every child.This commitment is enacted through the ongoing implementation and review of the Child Safe Standards and is embedded in our daily practice, policies and procedures.We believe that protecting children is a shared responsibility. We are committed to fostering a culture of child safety where staff and families are confident to raise concerns and where there are clear processes in place for responding to reports or risks of harm. This Child Safe Statement applies to all Natural Steps Preschool staff, educators, volunteers, students, contractors, and any other adults involved with our service.
Our Commitment to ChildrenWe are committed to ensuring every child feels safe, empowered, and supported. We take all concerns about child safety seriously and encourage children to speak up if they feel unsafe. We value inclusion, diversity and equity. In accordance with the Child Safe Standards, we are committed to promoting the:-Cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children,-Safety and participation of children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds,-Inclusion, voice and empowerment of children with a disability.
Our Commitment to Staff, Educators and VolunteersWe are committed to ensuring that everyone working at Natural Steps Preschool understands their role in keeping children safe. All educators, staff and volunteers receive ongoing training, professional development, and support to meet their child safety obligations.All staff, including students and contractors, must comply with our Code of Conduct, which outlines clear expectations when working with children and families.
Our Commitment to a Child Safe OrganisationRecruitment All staff and volunteers working with children must hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). Our recruitment practices include clear expectations about child safety in all position descriptions, interviews, and reference checks.Training and Supervision All new and existing staff receive induction and regular training in child safety and mandatory reporting. Supervision and support are in place to ensure best practice is maintained.Reporting We take all concerns, allegations and disclosures of child abuse seriously and respond with urgency and care. Concerns are reported to the appropriate authorities, including the Department of Communities and Justice, Child Protection, or the police, in accordance with legal and ethical obligations.
At Natural Steps Preschool, we are committed to ongoing improvement and reflection to strengthen our child safe culture and ensure our service remains a place where every child can thrive safely.
